My newly-renamed credit union has raised its fees to the point that I started comparing them to other institutions. Most big evil national banks’ fees are worse, but my local bank has much better terms. And when I say “local bank”, I mean seriously local. Local as in I live a block from the headquarters. Very local.
I refuse to engage in new business with any “too big to fail” bank because of my philosophical opposition to bailouts and corporate welfare. Below are comparisons of my soon-to-be…
I would say this in my own words, but it’s already perfectly said, so I’ll just quote a genius:
“Yes, there is a conspiracy, indeed there are a great number of conspiracies, all tripping each other up… the main thing that I learned about conspiracy theories is that conspiracy theorists actually believe in the conspiracy because that is more comforting. The truth of the world is that it is chaotic. The truth is, that it is not the Jewish banking conspiracy, or the grey aliens, or the…
I am well aware that I am broken.
I’m certain this is not going to be perfect because nothing is perfect.
I keep reminding myself of all the things I don’t like… I have too many counterproductive habits. I have too many self-destructive tendencies. So when I’m told that I’m great, I have a difficult time believing it.
I think I’m slipping… As time goes on, slowly but surely, I’m going mad. By the time I’m thirty-five I’ll have lost my mind entirely, methinks.
Also, I really hate AT&T….
Well, I seem to have gotten Windows Speech Recognition working properly. It’s actually kind of fun to dictate to my computer. It’s not the most accurate thing in the world, but it is rather interesting. In fact, I’m dictating this post my computer right now. Even without a headset microphone, which is recommended by Microsoft for this sort of thing, it works pretty well.
The best part of this is being able to yell at my computer when it doesn’t do what I want it to do.
The first time I tried…
“Tiered Service” in the Internet Access business is the concept of an ISP charging different people different prices based on what kinds or levels of services the consumer wishes to purchase. Economists call this price discrimination.
Bandwidth
This particular type of price discrimination effects everyone. If your DSL connection is technically capable of handling 6.0 Mb/s and you only buy the 768 Kb/s package, you bandwidth is throttled to 1/8 of its technical ability. It costs the ISP exactly…I’m definitely wanting some win right now… I need to get the taste of fail out of my mouth.
I could use a Big Mac right now…
iPod touch is repaired and back to its normal role as my brain. The hardest part was getting the old glass out, I had to heat it up.
I broke my iPod touch’s glass screen…
Replacement Parts: $14.
Special Tools: $6.
Having an excuse to take apart my iPod: Priceless!
I find myself doubting things which I have believed for a long time. I don’t tend to doubt my own belief unless I have discovered that my judgments could possibly be based on false or untrustworthy information. I now believe that I must change my opinion regarding something on which I have been very steadfast in the past: Healthcare in America.
This is not a crisis of conscience or a crisis of character, or even a crisis of morality. I still know what is right and what is wrong. I still know…
